Jewelry isn't made to sleep in a drawer
Real luxury isn't what you keep. It's what you wear.
Maison Taya began with a very simple observation: the jewelry women love most is the jewelry they wear least. Too precious for everyday life, too fragile for the sea, too expensive to be forgotten at the bottom of a bag.
So we turned the problem around. Instead of making a jewel you have to protect, we make one that protects you from all of that: 316L surgical steel, three microns of 18k gold, and a design restrained enough to outlive trends.

The same steel used in medical instruments and Swiss watches. It doesn't rust, doesn't bend out of shape, and doesn't react to perspiration.
3 microns of 18k gold
A thick electroplated layer, a world away from a simple gold dip. It gives the warm colour of fine gold — and it keeps it.

Questions
What you ask us most
Does your jewelry blacken or turn skin green?
No. Our jewelry is made of 316L surgical stainless steel covered with three microns of 18k gold. Unlike brass or costume plating, 316L steel does not oxidise on contact with perspiration: it doesn't blacken and it leaves no green mark on the skin.
Can I wear it in the shower and in the sea?
Yes. Water, rain, seawater and perspiration do not damage gold-plated stainless steel. We simply recommend avoiding repeated exposure to heavily chlorinated pools, and drying the piece after swimming.
I have allergies to jewelry. Will this work for me?
In the vast majority of cases, yes. 316L is the steel used for surgical implants and instruments, with no free nickel. It is the material best tolerated by sensitive skin and by ears that react to costume earrings.
How is this different from real gold?
A solid 18k gold piece is gold all the way through, and costs ten to twenty times more. Our jewelry has a surgical steel core covered with 18k gold: the look and colour are those of fine gold, the strength is greater, and the price stays within reach.
How long does the plating last?
With normal daily wear and the few habits in our care ritual, the plating keeps its shine for years.
